Aurélien Tchouaméni has raised concerns about the overwhelming number of matches played by international players. He believes it’s time for players to take a stand.

With league matches, Champions League fixtures, national team qualifiers, and international tournaments, Tchouaméni thinks that there are simply too many matches on the schedule. « It’s clear that we’re playing too many matches; it’s no surprise to anyone. Nowadays, it’s rare to have a week with just one match.

This situation is leading to more injuries, and it’s up to the governing bodies and players to make a strong statement. It seems like things won’t improve with the addition of new competitions. We need to take action because when it’s excessive, it becomes a problem, » stated the Real Madrid midfielder.

He also pointed out the lack of player involvement in the decision-making process. « We aren’t always asked for our opinion. Over the seasons, we’ve noticed an increase in the number of matches.

There’s an issue here, and I even saw a statistic that showed I was among the players who played the most matches in Europe during a specific period, even when I had been injured. When I talk about players making a strong statement, it’s because, at some point, if all of us are against playing so many matches, we need to come together and make a collective decision to be heard. If each player speaks individually, there’s no unified force, » he emphasized.
