The mayor of Bougival is defending Neymar. After describing him in February 2023 in Le Parisien as ‘a disrespectful individual,’ the mayor is now taking a different stance in L’Equipe. He believes that, in the end, Neymar wasn’t as bad as portrayed.
‘I was in the front row to appreciate the quality of the disturbances,’ says Luc Wattelle. ‘There weren’t so many big parties, but three in total: to celebrate a championship title, another for Brazilian elections, and one for his birthday.’
