Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin has once again criticized Karim Benzema during a meeting with members of the French community at the residence of the French ambassador in Abu Dhabi.
The previous week, he had already made controversial statements related to Benzema and the Muslim Brotherhood, which were condemned by the footballer through his lawyer.
This time, the Interior Minister questions Karim Benzema’s vague political positions:
« We can wonder what a footballer is doing tweeting a political opinion and when he does, he does it selectively. I personally think it hides something, and not to see it is naive. We can wonder why the Interior Minister is reacting to a footballer’s tweet, but when it reaches 20 million people, I think it’s my role to denounce it. »
