Olympique de Marseille (OM) has been sentenced by the Court of Appeal in Aix-en-Provence in the ongoing dispute with José Anigo.

Things are getting even more complicated for OM. Amidst the turmoil following Marcelino’s departure and the standoff between President Pablo Longoria and the Ultras, the club now faces a hefty fine.

Olympique de Marseille (OM) has been sentenced by the Court of Appeal in Aix-en-Provence in the ongoing dispute with José Anigo. The former sporting director of the club had been dismissed for gross misconduct following his indictment.

According to information reported by Ouest-France, the Phocéens are now obliged to pay a total sum of 3.2 million euros to their former executive, whose contract was terminated in 2016. This decision follows a previous victory for José Anigo in 2019 before the labor court, which OM had then appealed.

At the time of the contract termination and in previous legal proceedings, OM had justified José Anigo’s dismissal by citing his indictment in connection with an investigation into controversial transfers at the club. However, it should be noted that José Anigo was ultimately acquitted in this case where he was initially charged with complicity and receipt of misappropriation of corporate property in an organized group.
