Following in the footsteps of players like Raúl, Luka Modric, Mesut Özil, and Clarence Seedorf in recent years, Real Madrid seems ready to assign an iconic number to Kylian Mbappé. According to journalist Ekrem KONUR on X, the number 10 is reserved for the player who is about to leave PSG.
At PSG, Mbappé has worn the numbers 29 and 7, but in Madrid, he will have to choose a different number. The number 7, once worn by his idol Cristiano Ronaldo, is already taken by Vinicius Jr., who has no intention of giving it up.
This means that Mbappé will have to make a different choice. Fortunately, two iconic numbers are available, or almost: the number 9, left vacant by Karim Benzema after his departure, and most likely the number 10, which Luka Modric is expected to vacate when leaving the club at the end of the season.
