Kylian Mbappé is officially a Real Madrid player as of Monday, July 1st. The Spanish club has already released the first image of their new number 9.
At 11:59 PM on Sunday, Kylian Mbappé was still with PSG. A minute later, he became a Real Madrid player. The player now appears on the official website of the Spanish club wearing his new jersey.
However, the official presentation of Mbappé to Real Madrid fans will have to wait. Depending on the progress of the French national team, he could be presented to supporters on July 16th. Mbappé is even willing to cut his vacation short to participate in the club’s preseason, which includes a summer tour in the United States.
In the meantime, Mbappé also needs to resolve a financial dispute with PSG. The Parisian club is withholding part of his salary and bonuses, accusing the player of not honoring his commitments by leaving the club as a free agent. The saga is far from over.
