The punishment is handed down to the former president of the Spanish Football Federation, who forcibly kissed the player Hermoso after the Women’s World Cup Final.
Luis Rubiales has been sentenced to a three-year suspension by FIFA. This decision follows his forced resignation from the presidency of the Spanish Football Federation about a month and a half ago.
His resignation was itself a result of an incident during the Women’s World Cup presentation ceremony, where he forcibly kissed the player Jenni Hermoso. As a consequence, he will be prohibited from engaging in any professional football-related activities, whether at the national or international level, for a three-year period. This suspension will keep him away from the world of football at least until the end of 2026.
