Saudi Arabia doesn’t take virtue lightly: Cristiano Ronaldo will have to explain his gesture deemed obscene during a match with Al-Nassr.
During Al-Nassr’s victory (2-3) against Al-Shabab, Cristiano Ronaldo responded in a very particular way to fans of Lionel Messi, his eternal rival. CR7 mimicked an obscene gesture, sparking huge controversy in Saudi Arabia.
According to information from the Saudi media Ariyadhiah, the ethics and discipline committee of the Saudi league will adjudicate Cristiano Ronaldo’s case. The committee could take exemplary measures. But before that, a hearing with the Al-Nassr forward will take place, during which the star will have to explain the reasons behind his actions.
If Cristiano Ronaldo is found guilty of obscenity, he could be suspended for a minimum of two matches. This would be a big setback for Al-Nassr in their title fight, as the club is already seven points behind league leaders Al-Hilal in the standings.
