Forced to leave the field in tears during the match against Georgia (3-1) on Sunday, in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, Gavi, the 19-year-old Spanish midfielder (12 matches and 1 goal in La Liga this season) suffered a serious knee injury.
According to Spanish press reports, the young talent from FC Barcelona has a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee. With such an injury, the Iberian prodigy faces an estimated period of 6 to 8 months of unavailability, likely ruling him out for the rest of the 2023-2024 season.
Unsurprisingly, Gavi is expected to miss the Euro with Spain next summer. This is a major blow for the player, FC Barcelona, and the Spanish national team.
