Max Eberl, the recent sporting director of Bayern Munich, clearly discusses the succession of Thomas Tuchel, who will leave his position at the end of the season. But it may not necessarily be to recruit Zinedine Zidane. Because the coach must be able to speak… German. or English. Which is not the case for Zizou.
« Obviously, the new coach must speak a language that we all understand – so either German or English. French is a bit less common for me. It is a criterion, but it is not a criterion of exclusion. Zidane, who has been free since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, had explained to L’Equipe that his lack of mastery of English limited his possibilities. « Certain conditions make things more difficult. When I am asked: ‘Do you want to go to Manchester?’, I understand English but I do not fully master it. I know that there are coaches who go to clubs without speaking the language. But I operate differently. »
